Parent Teacher Association Committee

Overview

Parent Teacher Association Committee has been constituted to maintain the communication between parents, teachers and the students. This committee coordinates between the Under –Graguate committee, internal assessment committee, attendance committee and mentorship committee to keep a tract of the students’ performance and convey/communicate to their parents.

1. The committee shall be responsible to inform about the students’ performance to their parents
2. The committee shall be responsible collect the data regarding internal assessment marks and attendance.
3. The committee authorizes to decide the date of the parent teacher meeting to be held. Two meetings are held one after first internal assessment and the other before preliminary examinations.
4. Letters/Mails shall be sent to individual parents’ mentioning about the internal assessment marks and attendance one month prior to the date of parent teacher meeting.
5. In case of any issues the committee guides the parent and the student to their respective subject teacher/the mentor for their better performance.
6. In case of any suggestions given by the parents the committee shall discuss with the higher authorities to be implemented

Frequency of the meeting: Twice a year/ academic year

Activity Report

Six meetings were conducted {3 internal meetings(PTA) and 3 PTM} during the period June ’18 to May’19

1. First PTA meeting was conducted on 14/09/2018 by the committee members to decide the parent teacher meeting for winter batch students of 2017-18 (II,III,IV/II BDS). It was decided to conduct on 12/10/18. PTM was organized on 12/10/18. Parents discussed their wards’ performance and attendance with the respective subject teachers. One of the parents’ suggested update their progress regularly. Minutes of Meeting: Dr. Anita Kulloli chairman of the PTA committee welcomed the parents and staff members. Parents’ of 5 students attended the meeting from all the classes. Parents interacted with the respective class teacher and discussed about their performance. One of the parents had suggestion of informing the student progress after each exam. Meeting ended with vote of thanks.
2. Second PTA meeting was conducted on 13/12/18 by the committee members to decide the first parent teacher meeting for summer students (2018-19) and decided to conduct on 31/1.2019. PTM was organized on 31/1.2019. Minutes of Meeting 1.Dr. Mamatha Reddy, Member Secretary, welcomed all the parents and briefed about the meeting and introduced different committee members related to the undergraduate students like, Mentorship committee, Antiragging committee, Feedback Committee and Internal assessment Committee. 2.Member Secretaries of each Committee explained the function of their respective committees.Dr. Shweta Shetty explained about functioning of mentorship committee like the distribution of the students to the mentors, any problems will be discussed and solved. Dr. Roopa explained the parents about the procedure of filling of feedback forms for both students and parents. Dr. Meenakshi Nankar explained about the distribution of marks of the internal assessment and preliminary examination.The weight age of the attendance in the marks distribution was also highlighted. 4.Dr. Gopalakrishnan, Dean, introduced as new Dean of the college and gave general information regarding college and also gave emergency contact number of the personalities in high post like ,Dean, Registrar, Incharge-Student council etc. 5. Parents interacted with the class incharges and discussed about their wards performance and attendance. Few parents also discussed about the way to improve the performances. 6. Few parents gave suggestions which have been entered in the register and these were conveyed to the higher authorities by the committees. Parents suggested to display marks distribution on the website. 8.The meeting ended with vote of thanks.
3. Third PTA was conducted on 22/03/2019 by the committee members to decide the second parent teacher meeting for regular batch 2018-19 (I,II,IV/I,,IV/II BDS). It was decided to conduct on 26/04/19 PTM was organized on 31/1.2019. Dr.Anita Kulloli, Head of PTA committee welcomed all parent members a total of 23 parents attended the meeting. Dean sir welcomed all the parents and address them with few points regarding attendance. He explained the importance of attendance percentage for issuing the hall ticket. All parents were informed to instruct their wards to attend classes till the end of academic year. Parents were also informed to fill the feedback form. Parents discussed the performance of their wards with the respective class teachers. Few suggestions came from 3 parents regarding council work cultural days, celebrations. They pointed out that students are missing classes and are getting diverted from studies. One parent suggested not to arrange college celebrations nearby exam dates. Meeting ended with vote of thanks.
