And we, at Dr. D Y Patil Vidyapeeth have always urged our students to do something creative every day. We believe that besides pursuing academics, our students should also pursue their creative ideas and thoughts.And we provide ample opportunities for the same! Pursuing creative ideas will give relief from the stress and monotony of everyday life.
At the same time, it will also give one the opportunity to hone their artistic skills. As Plutarch said, "The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled."
We believe each one of you is ingenious, innovative, and gifted. "Impressions is such a platform that epitomizes the collective efforts of the students and staff of Dr. D Y Patil Dental College, Hospital & Research Center. The Institute has always stood for "Excellence in education and life through engaged learning”; and this is clearly visible in the magazine. It is a pleasure to go through the articles, poems, illustrations, and artwork of the Students. It is enlightening and inspiring! Every year the students outshine themselves. It is a true example of what our students are capable of. The magazine is a must-read.

As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. ” At DPU, we believe that besides academics, students should give expression to creativity. I consider and accept that every student has hidden potentialities, and given the right platform they will rise and shine. Since the inception of the Vidyapeeth, all the colleges and Institutes under its banner have been working towards the same purpose and goal.
“Impressions” the Dr. D Y Patil Dental College & Hospital magazine is one such initiative. It was designed and conceptualized to encourage creativity so that the students may grow in each and every aspect.
Since its inception, Impressions has been the most powerful platform for students. It reflects the academic and co-curricular activities of the college. The magazine contains poems, articles, short stories, short essays, book reviews, reports of activities in the college, and an elaborate photo gallery providing glimpses of the campus activities. It portrays the thoughts, ideas, dreams, creative writings, and aspirations of the students.
The students and the teachers have been able to showcase their creative power through it. The magazine chronicles the collective efforts of the students and staff of DPU Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre.

I take this opportunity to connect with you all through the Dental Annual Magazine “Impressions” and I am very happy to express some of my thoughts. As a matter of fact, publication of the Annual Magazine with such wide-ranging inputs incorporated therein, operationally provides a very meaningful and effective opportunity to the students for the purposes of unfolding their otherwise occult talent. I believe that apart from giving empowerment in terms of knowledge and skills, education does help in shaping attitude & inculcating values. We believe that gaining knowledge alone is not education, it is more important to put into practice at least a fraction of what you have learnt. While fulfilling the objectives of inculcation of values and intellectual excellence, a wide range of professional programmes towards the development of youth in a healthy educational environment are offered by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune.
In this endeavor, all the units have employed a student-centric approach, modern technology, application-oriented pedagogy for holistic development of students and the development of the noble profession of education. As a result of this Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has achieved rank 3rd in Dental Category, 17th in Medical Category and 41st in University Category in India.
We at DPU, ensure that our students are provided with the latest knowledge and required skills through the State-of-the-Art technologies. We have ambitious plans for the upgradation of our Laboratories and Research facilities. As a part of this plan, a regenerative medicine laboratory has been established at DPU (GMP certified & FDA approved) that will become a nodal reference center for dental research all over India. It will offer a platform for in vitro screening of drugs, pharmaceuticals and dental materials. I am sure that it will open up a new era for medical and dental surgeons to refine their skills required for upcoming novel therapeutic applications of stem cells for emerging medical needs. As a result, the banking of oral epithelial cells from oral cancer patients will permit bio-banking of the precious material.

“Impressions” originated as a concept, an idea to provide a platform to the students and staff to give expression to their original creative thoughts and ideas. It is a venture where students can hone their writing and editorial skills and most importantly, express their aspirations and dreams and the challenges that they encounter while maneuvering through the labyrinths of everyday existence.
The main focus of the magazine is to inform, engage, inspire, and entertain a diverse readership—including alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and other friends of Dr. D Y Patil Dental College & Hospital by presenting an intimate, timely, and honest portrait of the College: its people, its programs, its history, its challenges, its resources, and its mission. In the originality of its conception, in the excellence of its writing and visual presentation, and in its commitment to accuracy, healthy discourse, and editorial balance, the magazine endeavors to reflect the values and the quality of the institution itself. By maintaining the respect and interest of its readers, the magazine aspires ultimately to inform their opinion of the College and to strengthen their commitment to its welfare.

Our college, Dr DY Patil Dental College and Hospital has been ranked 3rd by the NIRF Ranking 2022 in the Dental Category by Ministry of Education, Government of India and the institution being in the top 3 ever since the NIRF rankings was introduced in the Dental category in the year 2020. Over the years, our college has built a reputation for providing top-notch dental education, and I'm delighted to say that we remain committed to upholding these standards.
Our dedicated faculty and staff have continued to advance our academic programmes, research, and community outreach initiatives. We strive to foster a culture of learning and inquiry that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and global perspectives.
We are proud of our students' achievements, and we applaud their hard work and dedication in their academic pursuits as well as co-curricular activities. I am positive that our graduates will make significant contributions to their communities and beyond.

It has been a wonderful experience to work with the exuberant, competent and ever enthusiastic Student Council of 2022-2023, the XANTHRONS.
Being the Student officer of this prestigious institution is a responsibility like none other. You are at the helm of everything, from the facilitation and conduction of all the events to coordination with all the levels of duties and employment. The decisions that are to be made and implemented are always in tune with providing an environment conducive for growth while making sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves. The council is like a family where the different opinions and perspectives are catered to, but the strength lies in overcoming all the differences & walking hand in hand.
The world today is changing at a very dynamic pace. Our aim as teachers is not only to produce good doctors, but also to make them good human beings as well as inculcate in them values & morals which help them excel in life. It is quite inspiring to witness the potential of our students unfolding at various stages and situations each day. Trying and testing times during the hectic schedule have elicited our students to put forth their best. The crucial reforms brought about in this years’ Council were beautifully incorporated in the way everyone went about their duties & responsibilities. Every member worked to the best of their abilities. It reflected through their exceptional talent and the success of each event organised by them.
I'd like to express my gratitude to the extremely cooperative staff and management who have been supportive of the various activities that were undertaken by the students, in view of helping them reach the pinnacle of perfection and professionalism in whatever task they took on, thus strengthening their journey towards achieving excellence.
‘Whatever makes an impression on the heart seems lovely in the eye!’ The college magazine exemplifies the voyage they traverse and exhibits the literary skills of our students. 'IMPRESSIONS' has always been very close to the heart. The mind blowing outcomes of all the events left an impression on all our hearts and minds, which our magazine team has incorporated beautifully in our annual print, ‘IMPRESSIONS 2023’, putting down a compilation of literary skills and artistic abilities, as well as capturing memorable moments.
The members of the Student Council 2022-2023 have been fostered to be humane professionals in every act. I'd like to applaud all my dear students for all the efforts they've put in. It gives me immense pleasure to write this message in my capacity as the General Secretary of Dr. D.Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital. This journey of a lifetime began through the gates of this college, taking me through an extraordinary path of self-discovery and growth. The Student Council was only ‘a fuel to that fire’. I am honored to spearhead this Student Council 2022-2023, XANTHRONS and to contribute in its quest to achieve the pinnacle of success.
On being bestowed with this responsibility, I started to pen down my thoughts & feelings towards this newly constituted troupe. In the process a few words specifically stuck to me: compassion, fortitude & solidarity. To be precise, compassion in our hearts, fortitude of our minds & solidarity of our hearts & minds. Materialistic ideology is so prevalent in this ever-changing world that it poses a serious threat to the ethical, cultural & moral values. In such a scenario, our alma mater plays a very significant role by helping us reach the zenith of our potentials while also helping us hold on to our motto, ‘None of us is as strong as all of us’
Since times immemorial, there have only been 2 constants in life: continuity and change. Now was the time to rethink, reform & rejuvenate. The day this closely-knit council was announced, it seemed challenging. But the members of the Student Council, the frontrunners of this prestigious institution, the harbingers of everything that came this year, be it the inauguration of the Student Council, the induction ceremony, the cultural fest, the talent exposition, the sports meet, the award ceremony, the convocation or the annual & social gathering, exhibited an amalgamation of management skills, dedication to work & exemplary leadership skills. Through the platform of NSS, we demonstrated that ‘leadership is service’. The members also provided help with all the departmental celebrations throughout the year.
The positivity of the collective success of each event reverbs within each one of us. Now, a few months down the lane, it is a blissful moment to see all the little streams of individual hardwork and perseverance culminating in a large river, satiating the needs of this ever-growing institution.
Through this magazine, IMPRESSIONS, the students are provided with the opportunity to unlock the storehouse of their hidden genius & the excellence of the magazine team and collaborative astuteness of the council comes to the fore!
Concluding, I would like to congratulate & thank all those who have contributed to this journey, including the staff members, the students and all my dear colleagues, because it would not have been successful without their incessant and generous support. I would like to wish all my juniors good luck for all that the future holds for them. It’s been a great joyride working with you, and we know that only sky's the limit!

We are genuinely thankful to the core to each and every student who has contributed in any manner throughout this journey.
