Departmental Best Practices

The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge is a well equipped department with all the basic and most of the advanced facilities available. It has very competent and experienced teaching staff which is proficient in all the modalities of the subject. The curriculum has been enhanced overall in most of the undergraduate course and postgraduate course. Group discussion on various concepts of full mouth rehabilitation with duration of 2 months has been introduced in the PG course since 2005, which is one of a kind dental teaching curriculum. The department is in the process of establishing a CAD CAM laboratory which will greatly enhance the knowledge and skills of the students. The procurement of intraoral scanner will also enhance the treatment modalities which will intern lead to greater patient acceptance and comfort.
The department has an innovative “Buddy” system wherein a group of second year BD students are assigned to a postgraduate student for a brief time where the PG student demonstration the basic and advanced clinical steps to the UGs which greatly enhance their practical knowledge of the subject. The Buddy system also provides an opportunity for the interns to grasp the intricacies of Implantology where in they are posted in the dept. of Implantology for a prescribed period.
