LIVE WEBINAR -DEPARTMENT OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY-PROFESSOR SOMCHAI SESSIRISOMBAT(CHULALONGKORN UNIVERSITY)- ORAL REHABILITATION WITH IMPLANT PROSTHESIS IN PATIENTS WITH DEFECTED JAWS -MAY 11 2020

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery under the leadership of Head of Department Dr. Pushkar Waknis organized the live webinar by international guest speaker Professor Somchai Sessirisombat, Chulalongkorn University on Topic:Oral rehabilitation with implant prosthesis in patients with defected jaws on May 11 2020(9.00-10.30am). On zoom the online platform, the live webinar was broad casted. The webinar was presided by Honourable Trustee and Director, D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Dr. Mrs. Smita Jadhav who welcomed the speaker Professor Somchai Sessirisombat on the international platform with DPU. Dr. D. Gopalakrishnan, Dean, Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital appreciated the guest speaker Professor Somchai Sessirisombat for his valuable participation as international guest speaker for the webinar and for sharing his knowledge to the faculty and post graduate students.The webinar was attended by 79 participants including faculty,undergraduate and post graduate students with active academic interaction through zoom online platform.The webinar was moderated by Dr.Luke Kale,Assistant Professor who delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Pushkar Waknis ,Head of Department expressed his heartfelt gratitude for Professor Somchai contribution to the webinar and enriching the knowledge on atrophic jaw and implant management.

Department of Periodontology Organized a Zoom Webinar on the Topic “Evidence Based Management of Gingival Recession”

On 15^th May 2020 ,Department of Periodontology organized a ZOOM Webinar on the topic “Evidence Based Management of Gingival Recession” by a renowned global luminary & the Inventor of the VISTA Technique Dr. Homayoun Zadeh who is also the Director of VISTA Institute of Therapeutic Innovations, California, USA, which was attended by all the Post Graduate Students and Faculty Members The webinar was presided by Dr. (Mrs.) Smita Jadhav – Trustee & Director – Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth. The session began with with introductory remarks by Dr. Gopalakrishnan – Dean, Professor & Head – Department of Periodontology followed by Welcome address by Dr. (Mrs.) Smita Jadhav. In total there were thirty participants in the webinar who were spell bound by Dr. Homayoun Zadeh’s presentation. Following the enlightening presentation by Dr. Zadeh, Dr. Shreya Shah Final Year MDS Post Graduate student from the Department presented her dissertation that was based on VISTA Technique. Post Presentations, there was interactive discussions between the speaker and the participants. The session lasted for more than 1 and a half hour and it was an honor to be educated by such an eminent international speaker for all.

Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry International Webinar and Facebook Live on: Non Aerosol Smart Preventive Restoration

On Friday, 22^nd May Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry hosted a webinar for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth’s Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pimpri, Pune. The speaker was one of the highly experienced and eminent personality in the field of dentistry, Dr. Prathip Phantumvanit, from Thammasat University, Thailand. This online session was a part of DPU Dental Webinar Series.

At the outset Dr. Vikas Bendgude, Head of Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry introduced and acknowledged all the dignitaries who had joined the session. Our dynamic Trustee,Director Dr. Mrs Smita Jadhav Ma’am welcomed the speaker and thanked him for accepting the invitation for conducting this webinar and sharing his knowledge with us. Madam motivated all the attendees to not be bogged down by the pandemic situation but to fight through it and emerge successful. Our respected Dean, Dr. D Gopalakrishnan introduced the Speaker.

Dr Prathip’s presentation was filled with clinical tips and directives in changes in routine dentistry that can be brought about due to the changed protocols in this COVID 19 situation. He enlightened the students regarding non aerosol producing procedures like ART and SMART. The presentation was followed by Question and answer session.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vishwas Patil, Professor, Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry.

Topic: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Basics and Advanced Techniques) for Applications in Maxillofacial Imaging.

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology headed by Dr. Vikram V Khare organised the Live webinar by International Guest Speaker Dr. Priyanka Sakhovalkar (PGR, Liverpool Doctoral College) on Topic: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Basics and Advanced Techniques) for Applications in Maxillofacial Imaging; on May 29th (02:00 pm IST), broadcasted live on ZOOM online platform. Dr Vikram V Khare welcomed the Guest speaker for the webinar, threw light on the basics of MRI. Interpretation of MRI in relation to the Orofacial region, along with use of MRIin early diagnostic soft tissue precancerous lesions which cannot be detected by any other radiological investigation. This would help in early detection and hence reducing the morbidity and mortality of the patient.The Webinar was attended by 16 participants. The presentation was followed by question and answer session. The meeting ended with a Vote of thanks by Dr.Vikram V Khare, Head of The department of Oral Medicine and Radiology.

Live Webinar- Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics By : Dr. Amr Elwi

Topic: How to get optimum results by using only Rotary files.

The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, Pune conducted under the aegis of the Dr. D.Y. Vidyapeeth, Pune a webinar on the 2nd of June’2020. The speaker was Dr. Amr Elwi from the King Fahd Hospital KSA in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Amr Elwi is an alumnus of the University of Genova in Italy. He is also an Opinion Leader and Speaker for Endostar Poldent. The webinar was on, "How to get optimum results by using only Rotary files" It was attended by the Faculty, the Post-graduate students and the alumni of the department. In all about 50 people attended. The webinar was followed by a vigorous round of Question and Answer session, where the speaker interacted with the staff and faculty and answered questions posed by them. The session was an exceptional blend of clinical tips intermingled with sound knowledge and was of great benefit to all those who attended.

Value Added Teaching Online Lecture

Topic: Cyber Crime and its Prevention.

Value Added Teaching online lecture was organised on 10 th June 2020 from 9.am-10.00am on zoom platform. The topic was "Cybercrime and its prevention". Dean Dr. Gopalakrishnan sir addressed the audience. The guest speaker was Mr. Ravidutt Purwal a cybersecurity expert from Mumbai and it witnessed overwhelming responses from both the students as well as the staff of D.Y.Patil Dental College. Speaker enlightened the audience about different types of cyberattacks, the common mistakes committed, and how to prevent them. The programme was hosted byDr.Anita sanap ,Dr.Rohan Gawali and Dr.Roopa Madalli.
