The specialty of Oral Medicine & Radiology has been treating potentially Oral premalignant lesions / conditions traditionally with medications. We have introduced LASER TREATMENT for some of these diseases incorporated non pharmacologic management of Temporomandibular Joint disorders with use of therapeutic Ultrasonography and Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS).
Careful history taking leading to unearthing of underlying undiagnosed systemic diseases is the mainstay of OMR specialty thereby forming the bridge between Dentistry and General Medicine.
Accidental findings seen on imaging are backtracked to the patients and appropriate & timely clinical re-examination is done in OMR so as to detect the occult diseases which have no clinical findings at the moments and have suspicious radiological findings in detecting potential late stage diagnosed diseases and treat them early.
We have gone completely DIGITAL and images like ( RVG, extraoral radiographs ) can be accessed anywhere in the world through our HIS system.
We have introduced dental treatment of medically compromised patients as a curriculum addition since 2019 with a full fledged Comprehensive Dental Care setup in OMR premises. This facility was started way before it’s introduction in the MDS curriculum as a routine quota.
