DEPARTMENT OF ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY

The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, integrates clinical care, advanced diagnostics, research, and education. With a strong foundation in oral medicine and maxillofacial radiology, the department bridges dentistry and general medicine, providing comprehensive care for complex orofacial conditions and systemic comorbidities. As the first point of contact, it diagnoses oral mucosal diseases, TMJ disorders, facial pain syndromes, and conditions associated with systemic illnesses.

Equipped with advanced diagnostic tools like digital RVG, panoramic imaging, extraoral radiography, and a state-of-the-art CBCT unit, the department prioritises precision and early intervention. It integrates laser therapy, TENS, and therapeutic ultrasound into daily clinical practice, providing conservative and minimally invasive care. Led by Dr. Sumit Mishra, supported by distinguished professors like Dr. Anuj P. Maini, Dr. Amita Aditya, and Dr. Pallavi Channe, and a dynamic group of assistant professors and international adjunct faculty, the department fosters research, innovation, and compassionate care. From treating tobacco-related conditions to managing medically compromised patients, the department ensures safe, evidence-based, and personalised treatment for all.

OMR's academic offerings include undergraduate and postgraduate training, and an online CBCT certificate course to enrich the curriculum. The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology actively engages in community outreach, conducting dental programs, HIV awareness camps, and No Tobacco Day initiatives. It also hosted the national-level UG student conference, “Prarambh,” providing a platform for young minds to explore OMR.
